Please. Any decent healer can dish out 500+ DPS depending on how sturdy and smart the rest of the party is. Hell, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that any healer can do around 700 DPS while keeping everyone alive and not deplete their entire mana pool like a careless idiot.

I wish they expanded on guildhests.
They're like tiny, 5 minute long gimmick dungeons or trials. If they made a few hard ones and put a daily reward thing or mid value crafting mats behind them it would help spice things up a little bit.

any ideas on prefferably at least a little over elbow length gloves like this? i was thinking orthodox but i only have the casting version and this is a healer glamour (because of the shaman shorts)

I thought my FC was pretty slow to get the airships going and was pretty disappointed that our third and fourth ones were going to be at around ranks 40 and 30 by the time 3.1 hits, but I've seen a fair number of people who seem excited and glad that they just have three ships that are all qualified to do the easy rank 10 expeditions with maybe one that can actually do Normal.

It's most likely 205 as with all other 24 man there was a 30 ilvl difference between minimum ilvl needed to enter and the gear rewarded from it.

175 is the requirement for Void Ark.

People had 4 months to get gear: progression is now kicking in. Alex 2 normal will drop 210, and savage will drop 220.

Relic will reach 230 in 3.15.

3.X will be VERY vertical. Yoshi P already said he wants to be at ilvl 330-350 by the end of this cycle. Prepare to replace your savage gear with normal gear every 3.X patch.

Gear iLevels will be calibrated to the rest of the game's loot, not to the minimum iLevel requirement of the instance that drops them. They'll be i200, because that's on par with non-upgraded capped Tomestone gear.

Setting the minimum iLevel to 175 is honestly probably just to signify that it's meant to take place 'after' Alexander Normal progression-wise (even though everybody will just skip Alex NM anyway).

The next raid tier won't be until 3.2. It's exactly like what they did in 2.x, except with the addition of the 'Normal Mode' raid which will probably inflate iLevel boosts each tier by 10.

3.2 will have i220 Alex NM gear (probably i220 crafted as well), i230 Tomestone gear, i240 Raid/Upgraded Tomestone gear. 3.3 will have a 24-man raid with i230 gear and new airship expeditions that give up to i240 aetherial gear. 3.4 will have i250 Alex NM gear, i260 Tomestone gear, i270 Raid/Tomestone+ gear, etc, until they get to 4.0.

There isn't going to be a new raid that also comes out with them, and 3.15 will be 90% QoL , 10% content. The relic will probably end up being i210, because 3.15 is probably the earliest that you'll be able to get Gobdips out of Void Ark to upgrade your Esoteric weapon anyway.

It won't be i215, unless they also bump Gordian weapons up to that level. They seem to not want to do xx5 like they did in Coil, though, so it's likely that the relic will top out at i210 until 3.35 when it gets raised to whatever the next raid tier is at.

To have something in the game that takes dozens of hours of mindless grinding to get because that makes half of the idiot playerbase "get attached" and form an emotional connection to their virtual sword. And because in a lot of patches it's the only option that shit players have to get a weapon with a relevant iLevel, if they're too shit to raid or even do primals.

It does tend to end up being "the best" for very short windows of time, but only to the extent that it has better/customized secondary stats than any of the normal weapons. It's never going to actually have an iLevel advantage.

I agree.
In most past mmos especially korean ones, bis could allow players to 1v10. But mmo devs have moved away from that, so now there's little incentive to commit to grinds. In fact it seems common to have standardized pvp gear stats.

Ok so you have spent months wiping and finally beat the hardest content and got the best weapon, now what will you use that weapon for? And what will you do when a new gear tier is introduced in a month or two?

SE eventually introduced glamour, so Yoshi is oblivious to this trend. But now FFXIV is stuck in an awkward position of having both vanity grind and a gear treadmill relic from the 2000s wow era.

I was just shitposting, but I am fairly certain you can do 850 at i170. Is your rotation the optimal one, or just something you cobbled together? Are you clipping your dots too early? Using your pet skills correctly? 100% uptime on shadowflare? Part of it is just practice. Not "on the job" learning, I mean spending an hour at the dummy a few times a week and doing your rotation piece by piece to build muscle memory.

Are they ever going to fix the hair clipping in this game?
Started playing XIV recently and just hit 50 on SCH 3 days ago (been doing dungeons, relic, Hildy and primals before I start on HW content). I love my artifact armor, and I love this hairstyle, but the clipping at the back is horrendous.

You could technically do that before if you smacked a training dummy to put you "in combat", thus allowing you to Spread a card. It was just a pain in the ass.

I feel like they must have put the "only when in combat" restrictions on AST really late into HW's development, because there's no fucking way that they looked at the 3.0 version of the class and decided that it looked viable, even on paper, unless most of the design had been done with a version of AST that could freely stance-dance.

I don't understand how people can be at the level where you actually can do Savage, but not at the level where you can maximize your DPS or even be aware of mechanics after seeing them a hundred times.

We've been at A3S for 11 weeks and the 5 times we've gotten to final phase everyone just fucking dies to Sluice/Protean or to the Cascade before Digititis because people weren't topped off.

You're talking about leveling content, and most people are done leveling.

Hunts were the thing after leveling that used the world map, but hunts stopped being required a while ago and very few people still need the i170->i180 upgrade (plus you can get the upgrade items with Law too).

And then to drive the nail into the coffin, the endgame once you're leveled up and geared out is the most bleak and depressing shit imaginable, so there's lowered interest in the game all-around.

The world map won't be alive again until 3.15, at which point the relic quest will have people doing Fates and/or Hunts for weeks on end.

3.1 in a couple weeks will probably revitalize a lot of the flagging interest in the overall game, but it won't be on the world map. Ishgard is going to be the most densely packed place in the game, for people who want to put together parties for airship expeditions.

People can get carried pretty hard through A1S and A2S (even if the carrying players are just "above-average"), and those are the people who are going to be really inconsistent.

Then you get to A3S, where you can't really carry unless the remaining players are godlike (and probably decked out in A3S and A4S gear on top of that), and you hit a brick wall, stop progressing, and then people gradually start to lose interest in the game JUST enough that they stop trying to improve, but not enough that they'll sack up and actually leave the group instead of being dead weight the whole time. And then that demoralization trickles down to the turns you're already clearing, contributing even more to inconsistent runs on shit you should have on easy farm.

>tfw three separate players in your static who are each 300 DPS below where they're supposed to be for the first two phases of A3S, but you're on a backwoods Goblin-tier server and there's zero chance of finding even a single competent replacement out of the tiny remaining raiding playerbase, so you're just stuck with them, week in and week out

Nah, I could call them out just fine. The problem is that whatever inclination they would have had to step it the fuck up was pounded out of them about 6-8 weeks ago. So best-case scenario, I say "Hey you're way below where you should be" and they go "Oh? Well, whatever", and worst-case scenario, they say "Yeah, you should get someone better" and they leave, but there's nobody left on most servers to replace them. Especially if you lose two or three at once and you need to fill multiple, specific roles.

There's basically just no solution that results in meaningful progress other than breaking up the static, transferring the four people who could win over to Gilgamesh, and hoping that there's a competent half a static over there that needs the exact four roles that those players play. Only I probably wouldn't because I'm attached to my shitty server anyway.

Go up to random people crafting and ask if they need help (obviously requires you to be able to be high enough in whatever class theyre crafting in), craft HQ gear for people with non HQ gear and run up and trade them, answer questions people are asking via shout, or just compliment someones outfit/character and strike up a conversation.

There are a couple skills in each class that can be used as "Cross class" skills, but even then each Job only has two sets of cross class skills and by and large you'll know exactly which ones you want to use.

Currently yeah, you just stack Mainstat into Materia, and it's only leveling and Crafting/Gathering gear has the slots.

3.2 is going to change things. You'll be limited on the number of Mainstat Materia you can slot into a gear, and Endgame gear will be given Materia slots. So there will presumably be some choice there.

It just seems like it will be for min-maxing rather than create actual choice in terms of gearing. Every class has stat weights and those weights are king. Any deviation from the weights is at best, a waste of money. Nobody in their right mind is going to do a full crit-meld on WHM or make a parry-melded DRG tank. The structure of the game, its systems, do not allow for diversity in job roles or for players to develop outside-the-box-builds or party comps that have any traction in progression content. Maybe you come up with something off-the-wall that has some situational value, but it will be, at best, a poor substitute for the optimal path and more trouble than it's worth.

The 50 to 60 grind is surprisingly bearable if you mix up leveling methods and avoid burning yourself out by rushing it.
It sure helps that every level you get either a new action or access to a new dungeon, so there's always something to look forwards to.
