Ultras were an ok idea just badly implemented. The main problem is that they are free and there is little thought in using them. For example if there were more things you could do with the revenge meter such that you had to choose between using an ultra or doing, say, an alpha counter or some other mechanic, they would be much better.

Well if I'm remembering correctly all of that was Seth's idea, which is similarly why Rising Thunder plays just like SF4 does for the most part. Seth steered SF4 in the ST direction with no special cancel light normal chains and a focus on links and such and such. According to him, the SF4 alpha builds had long ass light normal chains with like no pushback into special cancel and 3D hitboxes, so maybe KoF14 will make those mistakes instead.

any mechanic that benefits someone with lower health
for example, if P1 is at 60% and P2 is at 10%, then a mechanic like a super will benefit P2 far more than it will benefit P1.
If a combo into a Super does 50%, then simply doing that will even the score for P2.
If the combo leading up to the super does 10% by itself, then the super cannot benefit P1 at all.
Thus, Supers are a comeback mechanic.

Some supers can be good. A lot of characters only have reversals with supers. I haven't played old GGs but I keep hearing from old GG players that supers are used more in this version of the game.

also sf4 is just a lower damage game than 3s is because ken can't just hit you with anything into SA3 and take away 30%

Ok, I got hired to work at a videogame company, and was excited til this shit happened. I told them specifically I wanted to work on a 3d FIGHTING GAME, which they told me they were making. So I get in the studio, see one group working on a 2d fighter, I think "hey cool, wonder what my team's project will be like" Get there, guess what it is? Some fucking unholy blend of a Dark Souls game, mixed with Guild Wars 1 pvp, and fucking MOBA SHIT. I swear to god.

-full 3d environments with hazards and other interactions
-full range of free movement including shit like parkour
-easy as fuck inputs, not a single traditional fighting game input in the entire game
-shit like cooldownds, spells, and other bullshit
-dark and edgy setting

I got shown a sample of what was done so far before I got hired, the devs were playing out some battle in overly elaborate european looking rooftop with stairways and other bullshit the characters were fighting on. The game had VERY limited juggle combos like some pseudo realism shit with ragdolls(not proper Tekken style juggle combos and animations), realistic dynamic lighting, realistic looking graphics, and some sickdark looking aesthetic, it was raining HARD in that stage, too fucking hard.

Wtf do I even do? I told them their shit was not a 3d fighting game and that they lied and bait and switched me, they played dumb and said some shit like "well we never said it was going to be like Japanese 3d fighters" You fucking for real dude? Seriously? That's like fooling someone into thinking you're gonna let them work on an rpg, and the shit ends up being a racing game, and they confront you, and you go "oh well we never said it would be like a final fantasy game!"

I want to go back to the beta stage 1 combos. It had just the right amount of combo length and variety.

Beta 2 the combos felt very restricted. I'm like that jabs don't link into mediums for most characters but in beta 2 most characters only have one or two normals that they can link off of at all and because of all the pushback you're pretty much limited to combos that are 2 buttons into a special and then juggles if your character has them.

sf5 could really use another mechanic that adds a simple layer of difficulty but makes a huge difference at high level

maybe making it so that you get 2% more damage out of your link if you did it during the link window rather than during the link buffer window

You can do iads pretty easily with a gamepad, they are shit because you can only use one finger for buttons and for d-pad each. It really is slower and much less convenient compared to a hitbox or a keyboard.

I have close to the minimum reqs but a slightly better video card and I was getting around 60fps in 720 at medium with some drops

there were also fps drops that would happen regardless of settings like during certain specials or when fireballs landed

It typically takes you 2 light hits for your brain to react and realize that your opponent blocked or didn't so you know whether to stop there or continue into a full combo. If you need more than 2 hits to "confirm" you're probably slow. hit confirm moves also need to be safe on block

I hoped initially that the China stage, upon breaking the barrier, would extend the length of the stage substantially, but it just moved the opposite end of the stage closer anyway.

Even if Momochi wins he wouldn't top Daigo or Infiltration for SF4. He wasn't as consistent as those two. You can't argue that Momochi was arguably top 3 in the game for almost every year of SF4 where as you could make that case for the other two.

Just looks at Fuudo in 2011-12. He won Gods Garden, SBO, Evo, and Topanga in those 2 years. Was Momochi more dominant than that? It's not like his current run is flat out goat status. He's just won the most important tournaments which rightly puts him as the best, but not flat out dominant.

Gamerbee isn't close to being the goat of sf4. He's not even top 5.

I think making Dhalsim a character with a few ways of making you lose white life is a great idea. It means if a Dhalsim is playing properly he can do as much damage with one attack as some characters could do with BnBs if he makes you lose enough white life before hitting you with one actual attack.

Jesus christ fighting games really beat the bad mistakes out of you. Just started getting into USF4 and fucking every online match is just my opponent finding one weakness I don't understand how to defend yet and abusing it until they win. The minute I start getting better and improving those parts of my play, someone else finds a new hole in my game and exposes that for that match. Ughhh it's aggravating after a while because it feels like everything I'm doing is just flat out wrong.

Will my bass playing skills transfer over to stick if I decide to get one? I ask this since it's kind of the same how your hands have to do 2 different things. Would it be easier to play a lefty stick (even though im right handed) since hitting the buttons is like hitting frets?

Probably in the sense that you must have at least decent coordination with your hands and fingers yeah. The stick control and getting comfortable moving it around in whatever gate you end up using is just a practice thing though

Well a left handed bass would mean my left hand is plucking/slapping. I said a left handed stick because my left hand on my bass is constantly hitting the fret board with multiple different fingers so I thought it would be the same as hitting multiple different buttons in a fast and fluid manner.
