I still can't get over how little effort was put into the side ops.

I think half the problem is labeling them side ops at all. They could have just been emergent things that you could stumble on while roaming around. Why does half a dozen soldiers and 2 tanks sitting alongside a road, or some faceless POW sitting in a shed need to be a SIDE OP and not just something that's fucking there as part of the world anyway?

They seem designed to provide small, discrete challenges to allow you to more freely experiment with items, mechanics, and AI reactions in a lower-stakes, lower-stress context than main missions while still boosting stat sheet numbers in the meta game. That's fine but the problem is there's nothing inherently interesting or engaging about any of the missions or objectives in themselves, outside of the chance to experiment with mechanics.

>There's no relevant story information.
>There's no dynamically or unexpectedly shifting mission parameters.
>Objectives never change or expand or develop into anything else on the fly.

>They never relocate or move around in the world outside their little circle.

Beyond the extent of your ability to navigate terrain and neutralize enemies differently, there aren't even different ways the missions can play out because every single objective essentially boils down to "go to the circle on the map and make X number of things go away."

That means by the time you've reached the endgame and already seen all of the variation the core mechanics and tools allow for, there's literally nothing of value to be found in them because their only purpose has already been exhausted. Replaying them will never provide anything more complex or worthwhile than the first time you did them because they fundamentally lack any potential for meaningfully nuanced strategy or divergent paths.

Even the target practice actually paid attention to accuracy.

It's like they heard everyone bitching about all the rehashed armored vehicle missions and decided to make TPP's even more repetitive but even less challenging.

GZ side ops were fucking lightyears ahead of TPP side ops. They were even arguably better than a sizable portion of TPP's main missions.

I probably played the intel agent side op alone more than 50 times and it remained interesting for at least half of them.

Based on the various cryptic developer remarks, the fact that the two datamined cutscenes do actually exist on the disk, and that the music track from the one is on the official score, I think it's safe to say that, even if nothing else, the cutscenes will almost certainly trigger eventually.

But what then? Is the game just over with the Disarmament scene?

After months of being explicitly encouraged and incentivized by the developers to keep participating in FOBs--a long and difficult world-wide, collective meta experiment clearly framed as the playerbase themselves communally enacting the canonically prerequisite conditions to Outer Heaven being the sole nuclear power--the game just plays a disjointed 8 minute cutscene which takes place years before the Truth reveal, and then... that's it? There's nothing else?

Why even bother then? What's the buildup for?

It varies. A normal night is 7-10 people. An active night can be over 20. Just depends on who wants to watch and isn't busy.
When I started movie time it was during the summer so we had about 20 people a night. And since then that number has gone down obviously.

I'm going to see if streaming on Friday night works out, if it does I'll switch movie night to Friday instead of Monday.

Is there any trainer or an option in cheatengine that allows you to prevent being extracted while infiltrating an FOB? Someone invaded me earlier, probably a poor connection or a cheater since the first 5 minutes no-one could hit him, then he would kill me, only for me to still knock him out with CQC. I respawned twice and ended up knocking him out and Fultoning him, but then he 'disappeared' into the building and stayed there.

My men shot at him from time to time, but he couldn't be hit since he seemed to be inside of the building, as you can kinda see in the screenshot. This literally meant I had to stand around for 7 minutes until the waters closed and I had a successful defence anyway.

tl'dr: screen provided a result of cheat or bug?

It's sad to me how people don't play FOB. I played 50 games in the last 3 days and reached rank 4 thousand and something and only defended some random guy's FOB one time. There's zero reason to play FOB once you reach end game in single player, especially once MGO launched. I wouldn't mind a multiplayer FOB but I doubt it's ever happening.

GZ, in an overall, was SLIGHTLY better than TPP in acting as a Metal Gear game. I love TPP's gameplay, but it doesn't have the tone or atmosphere or stress you got from GZ. In fact, there's not a single base that seems to have a level design as big as Camp Omega, what the fuck. Seriously, what went wrong? Why does GZ seem to be kinda better than TPP?

But all of the maps are based on stuff from MGSV.

The Black Site is Camp Omega, Gray Rampart is the cut dam stage, Red Fortress is that one fortress that Volgin's body is in, Amber Station is that one oil refinery from the first Africa mission and Jade Forest is kind of a mix of all the Africa stuff.

So a reworked Mother Base designed for multiplayer seems right in line with all of that.

Block the bend right past the supply outpost with a tank and then leave D-horse in between the tank and the supply outpost. First they'll stop to try and move D-Horse which gives you one opportunity to fulton them out, then they'll run straight into the tank giving you another opportunity, and then they'll back up and take a year to decide whether to shoot the tank or not. Plenty of time to extract even the two APCs that travel together.

Fulton got nerfed too. Even Fulton 3 will be slow as fuck so assuming you haven't run off on your own like a dumbass or your team isn't actively ignoring enemy fulton balloons, you have nothing to worry about from fultons anymore.

I'm not so sure, KJPLA did a good job in having the player select between the triangle of insta-stun CQC, hard as fuck to take down super fast fulton (also nerfed) and the stealth camo
If you want to be an infilshitter and run and cqc everyone you will have to use stealth 1 or 2 and cqc2 for insta stun but in both scenarios with stealth on, you will have to choose between stealth (1 or 2 doesn't matter because you need fulton 2 for a fast and hard to take down fulton) or fulton
Now everyone will choose fulton and stealth, which means people sprinting at you will probably die when you're on the ground and aiming at their asses and even if they manage to stun you the fulton will take some time before kicking in and non retarded partners will help you
By nerfing the health and the cqc, KJPLA is officially forcing you to be stealthy or die like a noob which is good on the infilshitters getting rekt side but this also means you can't play like a normal soldier whenever you feel like it and just take out your mrs rifle and not use stealth just like in comm control, which is bad
By killing the insta-cqc people will have to rely on choking just like in mgo2 and it will give them a better window to get rekt and also for the enemy to get free if the infiltrator tries both interrogating and stunning
There are more pressing matters to take care of other than the infiltrator unbalancement abuse and I hope they will take care of it

In my honest opinion, they should have completely killed the choice of STEALTH+ and lethal weapons being combined and made the stealth harder and harder to spot depending on the level of STEALTH+ you equip
In that case, you can both fix Cloak and dagger with defenders unable to use stealth camo AND killed infiltrator balancement abuses and, as an extra, you would have made possible the choice of having Sneaking mission as a game mode
In MGO1 sneaking mission had Snake use the stealth camo and in MGO2 Solid Snake's octocamo rendered him completely invisible when lying or leaning
It's not possible on MGO3 because stealth is trasparent and not invisible so there is no way Sneaking mission can work unless they do as I wrote earlier
Not to mention SNE was crazy fun to play

nah man it's too durable AND fast. There were many times where I unloaded almost a whole mag of my macht into a +2 fulton as soon as it spawned and I still couldn't pop it. It seems really iffy.

That's because you're using the Macht.

You basically have to land almost every shot in your magazine to pop Fulton 2 and above with a Macht 37.

Sniper Rifles can pop even Fulton 3 in 1 shot.

A great story doesn't necessairly have to end in an happy or peaceful ending to be great, sometimes a little drama is actually required
Walter White doesn't just headshot everyone in the end, get a magical cure for cancer and fix everything: he dies because that's the right ending for the story
I would have probably liked the Snake kills himself ending despite being a little over-dramatic
I wouldn't have been okay with Otacon dying after all of the crap he's been though and being a good guy unlike his father

There's just enough time to pop a Fulton 2 or above with those weapons if you're waiting for the balloon but if that's not enough for you then buff the damage that those weapons deal to the Fulton balloons, don't make them slower.

Both seem simple answers to me.

They showed it because even in it's incomplete form, it closes the only significant hole there is in the game. It's there because it's never going to be completed DLC or otherwise so they had to give it to people somehow.

As to why it didn't make it, that seems super obvious. As described, it was much more ambitious than anything else in the game. A whole unique location, and a three-way battle between Boss, Sahelanthropus and Diamond Dogs and Cipher? It sounded like a Ground Zeroes level undertaking for one mission at the very least.

I feel like I was the only one who understood that and that is why I didn't bitch at all about the cut content
Why is, (story wise) playing a boss fight and most likely walk through a series of scripted sections and linear stealth different from knowing exactly what Kojima and his team wrote for the canon and for the whole Mantis-Liquid arc? They didn't seriously think KJP would make an Afghanistan-sized map for one mission?

I assume that the hammer came down on KojiPro at a stage where it was just too late to scrape together a way to make that mission work with existing assets.

Even if they fudged the gameplay by dropping Sahelanthropus in Africa or Camp Omega or whatever, the cutscenes would have had to have been totally reworked. And what they had was pretty far from complete so it wasn't close to being done.
