Generally I summon first because I'm new, so we spend time looking at stuff and discovering treasures

Could some people post their DS1 heavy builds? I want to know what other people use with heavy armor.

I currently have full stone armor, demon spear +5(or lightning zwiehander), +12 pyro flame, and swapping grass crest shield(for the two-hander) and the tower shield(for the spear).

oh shit really, well i've been doing that wrong, after failing to back away from it the first time, whenever i see him start the animation i just fucking haul ass to the other side of the room. Thankfully his soul suck attack seems slow enough to avoid without issues.

If you went a dex build with ring of blades, flyn ring, leo ring and stone ring, you'd do quite a lot of damage with a rapier regardless of their armor, right?

So, I finished Sunken Crown.

It was fucking annoying, tedious, and poorly paced, much like the rest of Dark Souls2.

Now, I'm doing Iron Crown. Going it, I thought it seemed promising. It seemed like it was dark souls 1 level of goodness. And then after the second bonfire, it just goes back to being Dark Souls fucking 2 again. Now I'm stuck at a part with some shitty NPC invader who tanks all of my hits from a crystal buffed, +10 weapon without really being scratched, and hits me for all of my health.

A roleplay build is one that restricts you in some capacity. No armor is a handicap that you can build on to have a different experience in Dark Souls because it will change how you play, eliminating the option of soaking damage and forcing you to play more methodically. So I only recently learnt about and watched the play tests of Dark Souls 3. Obviously it's too early for us to know anything about the plot, but I'm getting the impression that:

A piece of trivia - it appears it's named after famous Swashbuckling movie star Errol Flynn, who starred as Robin Hood at one point in his career. That explains the thief, the light load emphasis, and the fact it doesn't work with backstabs/ripostes and bows.
Though it'd work thematically with ripostes, a low weight parry dagger/rapier user would probably break something like this if it did.

Maldron the Ass? Yeah, just seed of tree giants him. Not fucking worth it to fight him normally. Out of all the npc invaders, he seems to have been granted the highest level of bullshit poise/defenses. Also, he runs away to heal in an extremely hostile area.

It's much easier to pop the seed and be done with it.

So Im trying to start another playthrough of Dark Souls 1 on PC, but I can't get dsfix to work. Simply nothing happens after I attempt to open the game on steam, without DSfix it works perfectly fine but once I install it it just stops working no matter how I change the INI settings. to answer your question, its very slow and easy to dodge although the hitbox is quite nice and can catch a roll into you. not really worth it i;s say.

Depends on what attack he starts with, and if the dog boxes you in with capra and a wall. If you can get by, you can dodge the attacks and off the dogs for a super easy fight. If you get boxed in, you need to hope you can block the hits, kill a dog, and still have enough stamina to roll away or block again.

Really, it's the cramped space that causes all the troible.

I go for the stairs as a chokepoint to kill off the dogs, but sometimes they form a wall that I can't run or roll past, and they end up ganging up and killing me immediately
I haven't found a consistent method to avoid this.

What the fuck is up with her? I'm not very high levelled yet, but I can handle her.
Only thing is she has unlimited fucking heals, literally everytime she gets to 30% hp, she insta-heals up to just over half way.

If you want to kill her early then you punch her off the tower where you first meet
If you want to kill her midgame you push/bait her into one of the side tunnels and use a low stamina cost fast attacking weapon like a shortsword/dagger to keep pushing her back, if she is far enough back then she will only attempt to move back into her original position or heal, and you can stagger her out of both
That or just kill her when you get the item to invade her, thats when you are meant to do it anyway.

Man, gameplay-wise (pve tho), the worst thing in das2 compared to das1 is that you can't make something otherworldly powerful just for the sake of being able to do so.
I mean yeah, das1 had it's nerfs, but there are still windows for making terrifyingly overpowered shit that brutalizes everything in it's path. I'm not saying it's fun to do so more than once, probably, but you can still do it.

Das2 though? Fuck no, they just nerfed everything to make it all the same. There are powerful weapons and spells, it's nothing compared to what you can do in the first game.
It's just the fact that they went out of their way to make everything samey that rubs me the wrong way. Feel just like Riot balancing-tier with their league of legends bullshit. "Hey, that guy runs faster than others! You know what? Let's amputate EVERYONE'S legs so that everyone would be equal!".

Fast weapon with DMB buff, PW, RTR and whatnot. You get the idea when it comes to melee.

Magic wise it's dark anal beads with PW, RTR (which in das1 also affects spells, as you well know), oolacile headslot, dragonwhatever ring and a crystal catalyst. Fucking blows the shit out of every boss.

Those are the general ideas for OP pve-wise that I'm aware of. Those are just bossfight-oriented things though, you can tune it down quite a bit but still be able to wreck shit with ease on ng+7.

I've been using a red rust scimitar for DS2 pvp, but seems to be parry prone with the projection/slow wind up attacks.

It's not. Stacking it with ring of blades gives you 100 more ar. Even 50 is already a lot of damage, there's a big difference between 350 ar and 400 ar, especially in a fast weapon like the longsword.
It certainly pretty good, but whether or not it's cheap is another subject entirely.

When in doubt, either Ring of the Living or Agape.

RoB/Flynn's/Chloranthy/RotL or Agape leaves you with 6.1 equip. Honestly, though, trying to stay under 30% equip burden and using Chloranthy at the same time is unnecessary. You could safely go up to sub 40% if you wear it, or pick something else. Maybe Life Ring or Stone Ring?

Well, according to Wikidot, Ring of Blades, if you infuse a weapon that shares that damage type (like your lightning heide spear) will receive 80% of the bonus- 40 AR if you're using RoB+2. I may be wrong about infusions affecting Flynn's though- wikidot doesn't really mention it, and Fextralife says "certain infusions affect it like RoB", but doesn't mention anything specific.

If you went with Stone Ring, you'd have about 5.4 units of Weight leftover.

The easiest thing to do here is sacrifice your helmet, and you can still put together something decent looking. Northwarder without a helmet is 5.3, Manikin without a helmet is 5.1, Tattered Cloth top and leggings with any of the 1 unit gauntlets is 5.3.

Something like White Mage robe, Monastery long gloves and Heavy boots are reasonably decent looking for 5.3, for example. Monastery shirt, Monastery long gloves and Fume sorcerer leggings is also only 5.3 and looks vaguely fashionable.

You can almost always fashion souls if you put your heart into it.

One of the things I find interesting though is that the mobile King Izalith is C5231 and the one in the finished product is C5230, which would seem to mean they started working on it after they started on the one we ended up with. It's almost like they had a crisis of conscience halfway through making the Bed of Chaos and tried to start over.

I think the gigantic horrifying tumour thing in Blighttown is also refered to as 'Izalith Prince' in the lore. Maybe the Izalith plot line was originally more complex and involved characters beyond the Witch and her children? Also, we don't know if the Witch of Izalith was even the ruler of Izalith - I mean, it's perfectly reasonable to assume she was, but she's never refered to as the 'Queen of Izalith,' or Izalith being her city.

My personal fanwank is that Jeremiah is the King of Izalith, driven completely insane and empowered by the Chaos Flame. Following the fall of Izalith the gods managed to retrieve him from the city but when he proved to be a dangerous mess they just shoved him into the Painted World. However, I don't think he's the pyromancer responsible for the forbidden pyromancies you find there or the bloated Hollows.

That's just a nickname for him. It could've meant something at some point, but that line's likely been entirely abandoned. IIRC the BoC was referred to as IzalithKing.

This is how it's always been.

If you're being invaded, anything goes.

If you have the advantage of healing while the other can't in a fight you called for, you deserve any Bad Times that will come onto you.

I don't know if DaS1's Dragon Eye sign let dragons estus, but I also believe in DaS2 if you summon a Dragon spirit you can't gank them, and both of you are able to heal, you can freely chug whenever you want, because 3/5 times the Dragon is going to run away behind enemies to chug.

Fire infused BKUGS isn't bad either, but there are probably better UGS. But its definitely usable. I like the 2h moveset.

I've been more focused on fashion souls for DS2 pvp, zero poise. When i'm hit its usually followed up by one or two more.

In 2, If you have high poise you'll be able to take more original hits without staggering, but once you do get poise broken you'll get hit by one or 2 hits like normal.

High poise is pretty OP if you have fast attacking decent damage weapons like Caestus, longsword, or spears

I prefer the morning star. It's also usable at SL1.

PvE wise just about any weapon can beat the game, pvp wise mace and morning star both soild mid tier.

It seems that mace + shield +EK set is GOAT set for an adventurer. You've got comfy armor that's clearly designed to be worn for long stretches of time, while still offering top-tier defense. You've got a thick, strong shield for protection against all the bullshit supernatural foes you'll fight. You've got 10/10 blunt damage, so that no matter what comes at you, it will drop without much extra effort. Add in magic to stomp on anything too big to notice your heavy toothpick of a weapon

It's ok, but I honestly consider the moveset to be kind of shit. Which is a shame because I really like maces. Not sure what it is about a glorified club refined to the highest levels, but it's great.

In DaS2, poise is designed such that only ultra weapon users / tanks are meant to really be able to take advantage of it. You get a 50% bonus to poise when you swing an ultra. There are also rings that boost poise like the Wolf Ring.

However, there is also a ring that dramatically boosts your poisebreak :^). Also, virtually every rolling attack/jumping attack has literally infinite poisebreak so fuck you

R8 backstory, /dsg/:
My favorite backstory that I've given a character is wanderer class. Character began life as an Astora elite, and learned combat and shit, got that fancy swag armor and shield to symbolize status. However, they got branded with the Darksign (which the intro mentions can happen while you're still alive). So off to the Asylum with him, got a nice escort and shit on account of having $$$. However, since everyone treats undead like trash, the escort punked him on the way there and stole all his shit. So the character became an aimless wanderer, doing odd jobs and mercenary work where possible, since you can't exactly go back to normal society after being branded as undead. Eventually, they get caught by Cleric Knights and hauled to the Asylum anyway. When you get to Lordran it turns out that your bitchass escorts got there first and hollowed out, so you take your shit back in the Forest. Armor is EK set, shield is Dragon Crest Shield. Not the Astora Straight Sword, though, that thing is too ass to use, even in an RP playthrough

Yhorgs is decent, CDGS is best all around, Arced sword is a downgrade from the original Murakumo, and Blue Knight Halberd is very strong, but it has a small sweetspot hitbox.

For example, the dex/int build I just started is one of those 'Vinheim spooks' mentioned in some spell descriptions - some sort of assassin working for the Dragon School. Let's say you grab a starting weapon, at base STR. Not say that you pump to 28 STR, and grab a shiny new weapon, that can take full advantage of it. From a conceptual, "lore," standpoint, would it be better to take the new weapon and barely have enough STR to wield it, or would it be better to keep using the old weapon and go 2x as ham with it, with your bumped STR? I was happy that they brought the das1 murakumo moveset back with the nil curved greatsword but it's iseless if you can barely aim with it
