Not really, the words are quite different, in English different words of similar meaning are usually only different by a single vowel, in Arabic the vowels don't even matter.

vowels do matter, they just are not considered as such. for example
q t l is root for kill
qatala is "he killed"
qutila is "he was killed"
so vowels can change a whole sentence, making it actually more difficult than french or english. check abou nawas and omar ibn al farid for wonderful wordplay

Yeah okay vowels do matter that was an exageration, but they are often ignored or not written and it's assumed you'll know the word from context, and I E and often A are used interchangeably.

I'm just saying it's not like English Sang Sung Song which is crucially dependent on a vague single vowel. Even your examples are dependent on 3 vowels.

How do i utilize missile infantry in land battles in Attila? My archers and crossbow men friendly fire all the time, and the only use i've found for javelin men is to flank the frontline and fire at the side of the enemy. But i've found that a group of axemen works better for that anyway.

I've ended up going mostly melee and just use cheap bowmen for bait, but i want to darken the sky with arrows or bolts and actually kill enemies without killing half of my own army in the process. How.

So with the whole no modding thing in Warhammer Total War, is it still possible with the tools we already have to edit unit size and edit saves for 40 unit armies? I remember you could do so in Empire and Empire never got mod tools. Also Empire had mods that added new units and abilities.

Obviously the game isn't out yet and we wont know until then, but does anyone have an idea about how feasable it would be? Aside from the DLC whoring my main problems will be lack of 40 unit armies, and no abilities like spear wall. I know they said its "automatic" but thats bullshit. As for unit size thats always been a problem for me in total war, even the largest unit size is too small for me, I like my infantry to come in blocks of 480.

Fantastic, iv used PFM myself to edit manpower values on mod units and change the way matchlock troops worked in Shogun2, giving the entire unit the ability to fire like light infantry so they're actually usable in the field. So thats perfect. I assume the save editor will also work, thats how I get 40 unit armies in my campaign.

Yes. Depopulating an area has the added effect of making any further incursions easier due to the locals not being able to mount a stronger resistance. It's still an issue on modern days, just look at the Great War and the Great War part 2: Hitler Boogaloo where women were really pushed to fill the role of men on the homefront so that the war with a timeout could be fought.

It just works. Seriously for an old card it plays most games flawlessly, my graphics are on medium for Rome 2 and Atilla because of the size, if I stay with 20 units and even Ultra sized units I can do high-extreme.

Usually no, I mean it depends. They had warriors who dedicated most of their time to learning the sword/bow/whathaveyou. But for the most part no, they had farms and homes to return to during harvest.

Most of the "barbarians" of the time had a very small core of professional warriors that served their lord and during wartimes this was the bodyguard or leaders of other troops. The troops themselves were mostly regular joes, basically a form of the Natty Guard except without drills.

Rome and a few others are the only ones during the time who had a large standing professional army with dedicated troopers, they had no other profession then war.

The concept that pre colonial Africa was nothing but savages in mud huts is deeply incorrect. Africa was of course behind Europe but by around 1000 years, they had civilisations, cultures and technology. Its terrible in the UK. You just do random stuff. Honestly I'm kind of lucky we got to do WW1 and WW2 so much. Some people spent their entire history education having to do the shitty kings and queens of the late medieval and early modern periods. For some reason the education board have a hard on for that period, but it's boring, nothing happens, you only learn about random monarchs. It's no wonder nobody has any interest in history.

I went ahead with a world history course that I have no idea where it started or what I learned other than the Mali/Ghana/Songhai, then took a geography class, but after I got an A on the "baseline knowledge" test I moved into a course on European History from the Renaissance that awards college credits, a US history course that offers college credits, and a Government class that I didn't learn shit in that offers college credits
Now I'm in college after trying to work for a few years and the 20th century history class I'm in is basically just "know what's going on in the world" and there is no actual learning about the class's subject. I've learned more history from this thread than school really, I guess I was just in denial about how fucking terrible it is

I meant shit like what we see in game, where literally 1/3 of the Celtic units are 50% women.

Then you basically open up the mod file, it will contain tables, going into db, for database, and find land_units, this is where the stats are. It's just numbers, edit them as you like.
Main_units is where the prices and upkeep are too.

So, I maintain that women shouldn't appear in any army in Attila TW except as pure garrison troops. It could actually be cool to create a special unit for the Picts and Caledonians (which were probably just a branch of Picts) that only appears as a garrison unit, has 50% women, and has very high morale (because women know what's going to happen to them should they lose, also the Picts/Caledonians managed to hold out for a really long time on the border of Roman territory).

Because they are arbitrarily splitting a part of the game off. They developed the shit just the same as the rest of the game, and there's no reason why it shouldn't be included in the final release.

I don't, after the release of the game. The FreeLC we got with Attila, like the Suebi, is an unexpected and very nice bonus. However, they ARE getting payed to make the Chaos faction, just like they're getting payed to make every other faction in the current, pre-release development cycle.

Those factions are just duplicates (and probably duplicates with less flavor) of ones that already exist. Ideally we'd be able to play with them if we wanted to, but it's not cutting out a core part of the game if we can't play as flavorless copy-paste factions.

Cutting out 1/5 of the distinctive gameplay that was developed on just the same cycle as the other four factions is a different matter entirely.

The Greek and Viking DLC's were also a load of horseshit, but at least they weren't one fucking fifth of the final game upon release. I used to bring an elephant unit in every legion in my DeI campaign, but with the 1.1 update they berserk immediately upon entering combat, so I can't find a place for them anymore. If I use them as the hammer, my legionaries are getting crushed to pancakes, and cavalry can hit just as hard with a good charge without killing my ground pounders.

I haven't disbanded or killed them yet because they're a nice indicator of power. The enemy knows you're not to be fucked with when your army is fielding elephants in Gaul.

if you can get the enemy in a tight corridor, a rolling rock can do way more damage than an exploding pot. in most other cases I go for explosive. even if it doesn't kill the guys it knocks over, it does health damage, so they'll die really fast once they start fighting.
