Check out it's performance on youtube. Most the people who hate it are linux illiterates. Not that it really requires any special knowledge with the large number of setup guides floating around. Mine suits me fine for the time being and it's not the only device I emulate on. I'll be upgrading when there's a project board that does PS2 well.

There will be an affordable one doing it in a year to three guaranteed. Buy whatever you like though. Lots of great devices out there for emulation. Odroids a pretty good too.

Emulation on consoles? I got Everdrive64. There is a built in NES emulator. It works pretty good. I also found a SMS emulator(only game gear works),and an MSX emulator. I can get them both to a boot screen. But I don't know how to load roms. Are these emu's just not gonna work? Or am I retarded? Thx.

I've never had a problem with any snes game so far. I've got at least 40 on there. I'll give yoshi's island a shot tonight and let you know. I suspect it's fine though. I've never had any problems with star fox but iirc correctly it uses the chip differently. Something about 3d rendered polygons for star fox versus sprite scaling on yoshi's island.

Cheers. Found the original pi really struggled with some SNES stuff even with the less accurate cores and as heavily over clocked as I dared push it.

Would be nice to have one device that can comfortably cover the 8 and 16 bit systems for that price. Would make a perfect Christmas gift for a few people I know.

Yeah, I haven't had any problems at all even with psx games. It does most of the N64 catalog great but a lot of titles still fall flat on their face. The pi2 is 6 times faster than the old one.

It could probably run on ARM using the interpreter core, albeit like at 1 frame per second. An ARM dynarec would have to be written completely from scratch. So pretty damn tough.

The devs for pcsx2 don't seem interested atm. They or someone else will inevitably do it as the hardware gets faster. There's also the possibility we'll have a whole new affordable project board by then that doesn't use arm at all. By that point it would be pointless to do it at all. That's where I got my 1-3 years thing from. If not on arm there will be another affordable device that will come around.

I've got a shield and a pi2. My sister gave me the shield as a gift after I gave her my old camry when her car crapped out. I honestly would have never considered it but I've been pleasantly surprised. Fantastic little piece of machina.

I edited a config file or two. I never once needed to do any scripting. Any file trees automatically set themselves up. Oh god, I should drop a nes game in the nes folder. :P

bsnes has a horrible interface and requires you to do some special bullshit to your roms in order to play them.

just use retroarch instead. Its interface is also shit but It has bsnes "cores" built in and will load roms normally.
