No the 3d perspective actually changed a lot of things.

to me it was more like 2d platformers than Mario 64 ever was.

Take it in the spirit in which it's intended. No need to get riled up here, I still love Mario 64

All I'm saying is that
Mario 64 is exploration while Crash Bandicoot was a straight 3d platformer.

Look into the history of it. It used to be generally accepted, not a common drug but a generally benign one that no one cared about. This was back when alcohol was still illegal in the States.

It was only after alcohol prohibition was finally done away with that the lobbyists working to regulate it realized they had failed and moved their battle to marijuana. It was far more about keeping their jobs than actually having a problem with the substance itself.

Back in the day we called games like Crash, Pandemonium and the like 2.5D platformers. The graphics are in 3D and the camera moves freely, but the controls are basically the same as a 2D platformer.

Yeah, but the controls aren't the same as a 2D platformer, that's the catch here. Crash Bandicoot isn't in that category, it's a 3D platformer that is very restrictive.

Crash Bandicoot has 3D movement controls, but the levels are linear. Only some specific segments are "2.5D" where it's a side view and your walk way is restricted to arms length width.

Actual 2.5D platformers, like Tomba and Klonoa, means 3D rendered environments but your character travels on a 2D plane or set rail. You can push up to interact with the background, enter a door, hit an enemy in the depth, etc.

In many of those sidescroller segments in Crash, you can still fall off on the side, or use the added dimension to your advantage, but only if you're skilled.

And that was actually used as a means to hide some secrets you needed to think outside your boundaries to discover.

Thats why I actually really liked the new Wii U 3D World Mario game. The levels are kind of annoyingly large because they had to design it around co-op but its still a fantastic singleplayer experience that reminded me of Crash Bandicoot.

The crash games were good fun, and did a few unique things apart from 2D Mario and Sonic, Klanoa, and 3D Mario, Banjo, and Spyro.

The insanely good graphics for the platform and charming visuals, music and characters make it more than just fun to me.

I just wish they were further developed. Crash Bandicoot overall, other than the programming behind it, is shallow, and it's saddening that it will never be picked up again.

I don't know about that. Nostalgia for Crash is pretty strong right now. All the devs have to do is smell the money. Sony needs to get behind a new Crash project. The hype alone would move units.

We don't have Pizza Hut in our country outside of airports, so I didn't get that. I don't think it's suitable for a character like Crash anyway. He's an evolved and confused bandicoot who only eats fruit.
