Final Match Tennis is the best Tennis game ever, but it is almost simulator like, a game for tennis fans, and not for everybody, it is not Mario Tennis (not that Mario Tennis is bad)
"Final Match Tennis was awarded the "Best PC Engine Game in 1991" by the German computer and video games magazine Power Play on their February 1992 issue, scoring 91 out of 100 points. Video Games, another German magazine gave the game a 91 out of 100. The British magazine CVG gave the game 90 out of 100 points, complimenting the controls and the depth of the game mechanics. They also praised the game's multiplayer options and artificial intelligence. Comparing it with Kick Off II and John Madden Football, they called it a "truly stunning game" and "one of the finest computer sports simulations available on any machine.""
http://www.pcengine.co.uk/HTML_Games/Final_Match_Tennis.htmFinal Match Tennis is by far the deepest tennis game in terms of gameplay on the PC Engine. In fact, its play controls are among the most sophisticated in a PC Engine game and in general, in a tennis game (what still counts to this very day). Don't get fooled by its simple graphics. There is everything in this game that tennis is about. Smashes, stop balls, volleys, back and forehand spins or lobs. At the top of it all, you can play it in every thinkable player combination (training, tournament, 1-4 players). By the way: in addition, its one of the best multiplayer games ever.
