>>2762887Meh, I like them both a ton.
I played PE when it had initially only been out for a month or two. Fell in love with it. It felt like Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy VII's love child to me. And the weirdo plot really drew me in then. (Now I just skip it, lol)
PE2 was more like a traditional Resident Evil Clone, but with spells, and it wasn't "just" an RE clone either. It was a fucking great one. Potentially better than RE, actually. Though certain elements of PE2 still annoy me (like in order to get the best ending, you have to do several things with no hint that you should be doing those things)
All in all, I think the atmosphere of the two games are equal. PE1 did the plot much better, PE2 did the core gameplay better, PE1 had the better music for the most part and PE2 had better graphics. So it's really up to what I want at any given time.
Third Birthday on the other hand...
I was SO excided for that game, and I think that in itself set the bar way too high to begin with. And it could NEVER live up to my expectations or excitement no matter what.
However, speaking objectively, it's just a generic TPS with a gimmick that seems interesting at first, then quickly devolves into a simple extra life system with very limited other applications. And the PE skills in TBD really fucking blow ass too. Half the time, I felt like my hands were tied behind my back because of how limited customization in that game was.
Still, the core gameplay isn't half bad for a PSP game. So there's that anyway.
Actually, I felt similarly let down by Persona 3. I fucking adored the first 3 games, and when they announced P3, I practically did a backflip. And then I played it...
Never was one for dating sims. ESPECIALLY ones with no porn in them. But whatever, that game found it's audience, and they seem to enjoy it.
But it seems to me to be like how Nintendo fans adore Resident Evil 4. They just go with what they know, which isn't much as it turns out, lol.
But I digress.
