And then there are 1st person dungeon crawlers with solo characters, like Bloodwych or Dungeon Magic.
Omega is an old roguelike that has a mostly pre-defined world. ADOM has a pre-defined overworld.
Brogue, a modern and thoroughly awesome roguelike, has excellent puzzles that are randomly generated.
I never said that 1st person dungeon crawlers and roguelikes were the same thing, just that they are very much alike in many ways. Personally, they scratch a very similar itch.
