Poison is only an issue at the start, and easily compensated for by antidotes early on and then putting all of Mieu's tech points to Anti every other level gain and leaving them there for the duration of the game. (All of the techs work rather well; you simply have to specialize in whichever one you want at any given time)
The issues with the game aren't really in the mechanics, which are unique and lend the game much of its charm, in my opinion. Editing any of that or the music or graphics would just be pointless revisionist blundering.
The issues the game has are entirely in the poor localization, mostly on the Orakian side. Choosing to suddenly marry some random tomboy Orakian servant after traveling across worlds for your exotic and mysterious Layan bride in the first gen seems ridiculous, and the subsequent generations are not explained any better, either.
The Layan Generations are at least given enough minimal exposition as to give some reasoning or motivation to the plot so that sense can be made of the game and the direction it follows.
