You have to use long distance weapons to hit it when it's on the ledge, i.e. the BOW, BOOMERANG, WHIP, or JAVELIN.

You may be swinging at the monster without seeing damage numbers popping out, or you may be getting hit and healed at the same time and will lag before damage rolls out, this is not you missing the enemy or failing to do damage, the game is stacking all the attacks and spells before rolling out the result, you can chain attacks to spells and vice versa, and if a monster hits you hard and you think you might die you can immediately have another party member stack a candy on them to prevent them from taking fatal damage.

You should also have healing items that can remove status effects at this point in the game.

or maybe Hammer + Charge Paladin, fool people in PvP into thinking you're just another run-of-the-mill Hammerdin, then surprise them with a sudden charge chain.

I might be wrong in thinking that Charge Paladins are atypical, but from what I've heard/read/seen, I don't think they're as common as Zeal or Hammerdins.

I should have mentioned it again: single player, hardcore, unwtinked possibly viable in hell.

I'm going with a hunter right now, nothing spectacular I'm on the cold plains 7th level, 1 point in crows, wolves, poison creeper and oak sage. Wanting to dump all my points in dire wolves and then bear when it's available.

I'm hoping for some bow with CB, and an alternative with high elemental damage for the PI.

I thought X5 & 6 were unforgivably sub par for Mega Man games. Way worse production quality, lower levels of polish, and I hated the little mini upgrades they made you juggle that infected the series right through X8.

But such is the curse of a Mega Man fan.
Critics say "they're all the same game" while fans have very heated opinions about which is better than the other. I feel like the truth lies somewhere in between, but no one would ever admit it.

Chronicles is a port of an old Castlevania 1 remake for the.... Sharp X6800... I think. Had added content and features for the PS1 version, but at its core it's a port of an even older game.

Was totally worth it at the budget price it was released at, but if it's appreciated in value since, I'd say just be aware of what you're in for before you spend the money.

the second game was pretty good, i played the shit out of it in early 00's. first multiplayer experience too, played quite a lot of online matches soon after we got the first modem connection set up in the house. there were a lot of sick ms paint levels made in the editor scattered around

i never tried the first game though.

I downloaded VisualBoyAdvance to have fun with some Zelda and Mystic Quest - but now I see that there is a *-M file as well as a *-M-SDL.

Just use an old version of VBA. Not VBA M. M fucks with the audio in a lot of games (Metroid Fusion and Fire Emblem are the only ones I checked before dropping it, and it fucks with both of em)

Depends on how one would interpret "deal." I do have a couple of games I bought for a buck or two that was worth hundreds.

On the other hand I got my Lynx with nearly all the accessories plus maybe 2 dozen games for super cheap. (I want to say $100, but even I'm not sure if it was that low, plus this was in the 90s.) Then got a similarly sized Jaguar set for just as cheap ... from the same guy.

The Jaguar and Lynx strike me as more memorable than my 99cent Music Machine cartridge . Maybe because I actually spent time playing the former.

My best deal at a flea market was a tub full of vidya shit for $40. It had a Saturn, Genesis, Sega CD, PS2 slim, and a ton of Genesis games among other random stuff. My best thrift store find was at a Goodwill where I got Twisted Metal 2 & 3, Soul Blade, Bushido Blade 2, Front Mission 3, Parasite Eve, Legend of Legaia, and Brave Fencer Musashi all complete and in good condition for 50 cents each. That's over $100 worth of games for less then $5.

I only played the gamboy version (in ragnarocks world). Was always dissapoint, that I could only play one of the toads seen on the cover.

Could only beat the motobike and snake levels after I read about the warp fields.
Never made it past the snow levels. Shit was punishing.

It was an afterthought anyway. I guess all I REALLY wanted to know was:
"How are the PS1 versions?"

Faithful ports? Any original content? Worth looking into for any interesting quirks/ideas that set them apart?

I dunno, I bet I could download DXX-Rebirth, copy the game files, and start it before the PS1 version finishes loading.

Anyway, I know the PS1 version of Descent 1 has an animated intro, mine escape, and voiceover for the briefings. That's new. And it has dynamic lighting for projectiles which didn't exist on the PC until Descent 2. I never used the redbook audio on the PC so I don't know if the CD music is new. Otherwise it's a standard port that runs and controls a lot worse. I think it has some extra levels? I dunno.
