What's the oldest game you got?

For me it's the 1985 release of Super Mario Bros. I wish I had some of the games from the 70's, though.

I have a pretty nice Odyssey 2 collection but I really want nice boxed copies of Conquest of Power and Quest for the Ring. Many of the best second gen games imitated existing tabletop games since that was their golden age and those two actually are board games that use the Odyssey to keep track of details, generate random elements and play limited action sequences.

My father had an IBM, and I remember playing a late 70's (or maybe early 80's) DOS game called 'Alley Cat', where you control a monochromatic street cat whose mission was to break into departments to steal stuff. It was fucking awesome (and hard). May as well download an emulator, to get my monthly dose of nostalgia.

MS-DOS didn't even exist until 1981 and Alley Cat is from 1984. I could see some one that was completely ignorant thinking 80s DOS games were from the 70s though. They were extremely primitive looking even when compared to other games of their time.

Nah I think the Odyssey 1 looks better, only because it looks like a weird monolith.

Can't bring myself to take it out of the box though because video games made before I was born give me the heebie-jeebies for some reason. Shit is haunted.

Really anybody who wants to pride themselves on owning something particularly old should go pick up a six-switch Atari 2600. They really are easy to come by and there are many great VCS games you just have to wade through a lot of shit to get them, but that's true for most consoles.

Not Vectrex though... Or Dreamcast.
