I also don't agree on the Contra and Castlevania games, I'd say I like each game for a different reason without having to resort to an arbitrary, subjective "best", but I do like IV a little bit more than Bloodlines, although they're all good.

Never played Sparkster/Rocket Knight series.

IMO Genesis had the refined arcade-style games while SNES had more experimental-style games.

Only after the Playstation push of Final Fantasy VII they became mainstream.

In comparison, the best selling Capcom game ever was until 3 years ago (it was barely passed by the last Resident Evil games that get Steam sales) Street Fighter II with over 6.3 million units sold on Super Nintendo, without counting Turbo and Super.

People didnt buy Super Nintendos in the west to play rpgs, they did it to play platformers, fighting games, racing games, and sports games.
The best Selling SNES games are Mario World, Street Fighter 2 and Donkey Kong Country.
