but bubsy 1 really is just eh
the worst thing about this game is the fact that it encourages you to go fast, but there is very little done to make the game accessible to those who are not willing to imprint the entire level patterns in their minds. the punishment for mistakes, in spite of 1ups not being that scarce, is too large and the scope of view is quite limited, making it very difficult to react in time if you notice an unexpected hazard.
of course you can play it slow, but then you're still left with a mediocre platformer with little variety (3 entire stage sets are variations on forest theme, come on)
it's a very unforgiving game relying on memorization. there might be people out there who love it, but i'm not one of them
