Who else likes Master of Monsters?

Don't you just love surrounding the enemy leader completely, only for him to use Meteor, killing your freshly leveled monsters purely by luck? I sure do!
This is the only one I've played in the series. Are the others better or worse?

PS1 version looks a lot nicer, but there's like no story. You just play some scenarios and shit happens, but nothing's interconnected.

I'd really like to play the Windows games, too, but I should try proper Daisenryaku first before jumping into System Soft wargames. The Mega Drive music really is amazing, and I wish Matsuo did the music for the PC-98 versions as well (he did a couple of J-PC games' scores around that period too).

The combat looks kind of cool in the PC version. I like how its combat actually has its own music.

Is Disciples of Gaia really as bad as all the reviews make it out to be? I don't think there's much story in this one either.

This interests me. I downloaded the Japanese version to see if it's different.

In the USA version, my favorite master is called a "Daimyou". But here in the Japanese, he's called "Warlock". I also saw in the intro on the PC version, he's shown wearing a hooded robe, so it makes sense.

What I want to know, is why did they call him "Daimyou" in English? As a kid, I had no idea what a Daimyou was. I doubt many westerners know. But everybody knows what a Warlock is! As well, "Darklord" was originally "Necromancer", but I guess that wouldn't fit.

All the reviews say the PS game is bad. Apparently it's buggy. They say Masters can move out of their home base and level up as well, so your Master can steam roll the entire game on his own.
But I dunno, I haven't played it myself yet.

MobyGames User Scores are usually better for honest/educated ratings of games (Bioshock Infinite is rated solidly in "mediocre" territory, for example), especially for checking in on how well retro games have aged over the years. However, the PS version rating is a perfect 5.0 from one guy, so it doesn't actually help in this case.

Yeah it's...well it shit,not because it is bad game,it would be a great game even better than original but its so brokenly buggy.Like hit chances are completely false.The game has a bug that "calculate" the next hit on global scale.So you can have your uber super mega assraping ninja(who is the best creature in the game) have a chance 99%(this is max chance to hit) to hit and he will completely miss because the game determined that next hit is miss.Also item finding is buggy and random and you can get a bunch of stones of power or some similar name that when used on creature gives it 10 lvls and automatic evolution change.

And these bugs are actually really noticeable.Otherwise the game would be fucking awesome.It has tons of different creatures,tons of different evolution paths for creatures,monster fusion options and yes masters can get lvl ups and become the most powerful units in the game but there is a catch.Another bug!If you lvl up your master beyond lvl 99 the game can get wonky and have other problems or it can even kill or reset your master stats.and that means pretty much game over.
