I'm more curious on how to recreate it and stuff like it. Like how exactly do you get that 90
s CGI look. Would it be easier to buy old hardware and render it on there and then transfer it to a modern PC some how?

Like Donkey Kong Country Sprites were made with 3D CG models and such. Is it possible to recreate that same look today easily?

Reyes rendering.

I'm almost certain that at least the Rare and Nintendo shots here were made using Renderman, which was the absolute state of the art in the 90s.

Bump maps are shading. I mean the curved surfaces. You can do a lot with hardware tessellation nowadays, but there's no game out yet where you can't see edge any artifacts from the triangulation. With Reyes rendering these are just gone.

No, they were promo CGs that also were included with the game. Falcom's CG artist(s) did a bunch of stuff like this for games like Monarch Monarch, Vantage Master, and even Dinosaur Resurrection later on.
