Why make a 1:1 remake of the game then? What is the point? Just play the original.

The original games didn't have more advanced aiming because of tehcnical and control limits.

RE4 just has better aiming style since it's fully 3D. If you're making a full 3D game there's no reason to not use it.

They're PS1 games. You can't get good looking games on a PS1 in full 3D. So they went with gorgeous 2D backgrounds with 3D models. It allowed for them to have more detailed 3D models than what you'd normally get. This forces the games to use static camera angles though.

In addition the original PS1 controller had no analog pads.

More advanced aiming systems were possible only on the next gen, where controllers had two analog sticks by default and the more advanced consoles could do better looking 3D.

You're a dumbfuck. You basically want him to design a new game from scratch. The backgrounds are all flat and layered to look 3d. Therefore any mode other than a fixed camera is impossible without redoing the entire game. The camera angles were placed there by capcom on purpose. They're designed to be disorienting and not too revealing. 16:9 isn't necessary either because he'll have to extend the backgrounds and add more scenery. I don't blame him for not putting in all that extra work for something retro gamers don't even care about. The graphics are fine, the guy making it knows ultra hd graphics aren't necessary so he chose what kept the feel and style of the game in tact while making it refreshing and still visibly appealing.

That kid who did this create the environment in unreal engine. he literally would just have to open up the camera matte and we would automatically see more. nothing would have to be redrawn. and if he can't design the level a few inches left and right than he is lazy as fuck. because this is basic shit that he fucks up. Helll if this was a good game he would even leave a free aspect ratio so you can choose w/e you want.

Cool project to show your skills and get hired, but these sorts of things always seem stupid and pointless to me from a player standpoint. It doesn't even look better except for the resolution/crispness (lol @ those shadows in the beginning). Who would get excited over "you can replay Resident Evil 2, but this time it looks different?" Nah dawg I would just replay RE2.

Mostly projects like this make me sad because I see tons of effort put into what could have been a NEW RE-style game. Make your own layouts and puzzles and enemies, man, then it would be something everyone could enjoy fresh, and it would have been the same amount of work it took you to recreate something everyone has already seen.

I've played both albeit years ago. I think the tank controls better suited RE2. It really helped add an element of constant suspense that was just missing in the N64 version. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

lots of people actually, there are professional remakes that have gotten a lot of attention, and there is also things like Black Mesa, which a lot of people got excited over. Just because something isn't interesting to you it doesn't mean that it isn't interesting to anyone at all. no, it didn't have "advanced aiming" (what ever the hell that means) because it's a horror game and because they wanted to create a certain feel of being out of your element, this isn't the later games where they pretty much turned into over the shoulder shooters.

This was the period when RE games were just rehashing the same old formula over and over again, and they clearly had no idea where to take the story. REmake is pretty good, but it only had mediocre sales. It wasn't enough for a sequel. RE0 got pretty bad sales.

RE4 on the other hand revitalized the series, as it's basically a soft reboot with different gameplay. There's a reason it's been ported to everything by now.

The fan remake has been canceled, Capcom announced an official RE2make back in August. They were nice and let the mod team meet with them for input though.

Every play Winback? How about Syphon Filter? Nothing was stopping them from doing a 3D shooting fest. This is like when Bethesdafags claim the original Fallout games were isometric due to technical limitations even though Arena was in 1st person.

I've never played a resident evil game for more than 4 minutes, and I know you're retarded.

Shit camera angles/fov and RC car controls give resident evil its tension. It's not a shooter, it's survival horror. If it was easy to control, it would be an action game.

But you're right that fan remakes are pointless. Even if the graphics are better, the art style is usually lost in translation. And in the end you wait years for the same game or a less fun game with prettier graphics. In theory remakes would be worth doing for fun, but the amount of work is insane.

I wasn't "let down" either, they surpassed expectations. It just wasn't until the game was out do you realize there really is no point in it. The game is less fun than half-life, and the levels are interesting as fuck to compare to the old ones, but not interesting to play.

So when someone wants to get into the half-life series from the beginning, I can't point them to black mesa. I can only point them to black mesa if they want to learn how little an excellent fan remake would pay off.

And those games rely upon lock ons which are gay as fuck.

The point still remains: you can't have direct control of aiming in a PS1 game until you get analogs. But few games made use of those anyways. And you certainly can't do it in a 2D/3D game, since RE games wanted to have nice looking detailed graphics.
