ITT: hardest games ever

the NES port of Q-Bert has never been beaten legit without pause buffering. even WITH pause buffering there is only record of 3 people in the world ever getting to the ending.

TGM3: Terror Instinct and Nethack come to mind.

With Nethack vanilla there's an insane amount of effort needed to get consistently good at it, even several years after the last patch. Getting lucky with a valkyrie and getting to Orcus-town or even ascending once in a thousand attempts is relatively easy, being able to ascend with conducts with any class consistently is something that takes years of practice.
