From what I understand, selling a soul to the/a devil grants them influence over the life of whoever's soul they own. That's how they give you your end of the bargain. Ergo, selling someone else's will typically ruin their life to some degree.

Inherently all parties involved must keep up their end of the deal, otherwise it is null and void. Therefore, the devil involved will always deliver on whatever you wanted in order to keep hold on the soul. They will usually twist around the terms of the deal in order to make whatever you get undesirable: 100 literal bucks (deer), eternal life at the bottom of the ocean/in prison, etc.

Committing yourself to God/salvation seems to also nullify the contract so long as it's your own soul you sold, due to salvation. Otherwise selling a soul is pretty much guaranteed damnation in Christian terms.

With regards to reward, passage into Heaven and having your soul back are completely out of the question. Likewise the degree of your reward is related to how powerful the devil you are working with is: a little imp won't do much, Lucifer himself can perform literal miracles.

Summoning them is a very classic method. This can be a completely random summoning, in which case the one who answers may or may not be able to do exactly what you want. Alternatively the bigger, more notable names can be summoned with the right rituals. These notable ones typically specialize in certain skills/rewards/magics. At the same time these ones may not even answer the summoning since they're usually some of the more important or busy ones in Hell.

For example, Mammon is the Prince of Greed, one of the top 7 fallen angels alongside Lucifer, and could give you massive amounts of wealth. However he's in charge of the Infernal Bank which manages all possessions, including all wealth that has or will ever be owned and all personal property ever.

There's also the off chance that they respond to just a regular calling out or they approach you of their own will. You'd probably be able to get a little more out of them approaching you than other methods, since they want your soul enough to actually initiate the encounter. Both of these methods usually indicate that they've been keeping an eye on you or even twisting your fate in a certain direction to show "they want to help you" (helping you to avoid a car crash, suddenly inheriting money, etc).

By doing that you 1.pledge allegiance and 2.allow him to have greater influence on you and you can communicate with him better
Basically now he can make your life great if you worship and follow him or he can absolutely fuck your shit up if you disrespect and insult him. Youll still have to do sacrifices and shit for stuff to happen since the soul bonding ritual just opens up new paths for his power to reach you.

If you can nullify the contract, the soul will return to your possession. As far as I know, there are two ways to null the contract.

Get the devil you made the deal with to breach his terms in the contract. This is extremely difficult because they're pretty thorough.

Alternatively you can receive divine salvation/forgiveness from whatever kind of god exists. Basically prove somehow that you are genuinely good and repentant.
