What price would you be willing to pay for a higher level of consciousness? Enlightenment? The ability to see beyond this narrow spectrum we call reality?

Teetering on the edge of animal and god, man exists in a precarious state of transition with no set path beyond. What if what you call
"sanity" was itself nothing more than this very transitional state between instinct (animal) and madness (god)? However, once you've crossed this threshold it is said you will never feel at one with the human race ever again. What if the price to be paid was that of cutting yourself off from the "soul cycle" of reincarnation? What if it meant abandoning the dogma of "species" altogether?
