I think when I nearly fell off that cliff in 94 that I actually did. I saw the "life flash", and managed to steady/save myself and climb up to safety. I could feel people standing around me, looking, crying, my mum and dad, friends.. while I was clambering back up the cliff-face.
A few years ago I had a dream from which I couldn't wake-up. I "woke-up" several times in the dream, only to realise it wasn't "right" somehow and that I was dreaming. The final few wake-ups were so realistic I actually thought that I was fully awake. The last one I was so real that I went to the bathroom and went back to bed. It was only when I went to switch off the light did I realise it was a dream. The light didn't work.
When I fully awoke I was convinced that I was still dreaming. It was identical, to me. For the next 3 days I questioned reality and still do.
