>>16896416Adam Weishaupt created the Order of the Illuminati, modeled after Sufi orders, the Ismailli sect of Assassins, and Freemasonry. He called for the abolition of religion, private property, and most dangerous of all - the monarchy. His group infiltrated Masonic lodges throughout Europe and had great success until they hit a snag. Fate decided that the Order was too big for it's britches and struck a blow. A man was transporting documents of a sensitive nature on horseback, when he was struck by lighting and killed instantly. The papers were found and read, which turned out to be all about the goals I mentioned above. Nothing was more explosive at the time and the papers were published under the title "Proofs of a Conspiracy Against the Crowned Rulers of Europe". Leo Taxil would incorporate elements of the real Illuminati into his slander of the Freemasons, but the truth is there.
Were the Illuminati evil? Perhaps not. But they are probably not around or influential like many claim.
