On a more down to earth note, there was a piece on the news this week (sorry crap memory, might have been BBC online) about modern day 'vampires' who are people who actually do drink blood, and in some cases get a buzz out of it, or a perceived energy lift. Included reports of some people who feel down or drained if they go more than a few days without. My take would be purely psychosomatic. Although it might be a potent source of chi to drink fresh live blood.
