Worth noting, they are kind of based off of insects, and the matriorb is basically an egg...so maybe that's why trolls have evolved to need a mothergrub to reproduce, since she's the only one that lays eggs.
Female trolls have breasts, therefore their sex organs are different from males. That must mean that trolls are not hermaphroditic (at the basest of levels). That's my thought process basically.
